Pair of 1970s “Siesta” Bent Rosewood and Leather Lounge Chairs by Igmar Relling for Westnofa, Norway

Pair of 1970s “Siesta” lounge chairs designed by Ingmar Relling for Westnofa, Norway. Rosewood bentwood frames paired with original cognac leather sling cushions that have aged beautifully over time. The leather shows a rich, naturally worn patina with soft creasing and crinkling throughout — the kind of wear that gives these chairs their warmth and character rather than taking away from it.

Relling’s Siesta design has always balanced comfort with restraint, and this pair does that especially well. Low, relaxed, and sculptural without feeling oversized, they work just as easily in a quiet reading corner as they do floating in a larger living space.

Seat height is 16” and seat depth is 17”

Condition: This piece remains in its original vintage condition with minor signs of wear consistent with age and will be sold as is. These chairs are in well used vintage condition. There are scratches, scuffs, and worn finish throughout. One chair has a chip in the veneer (photographed). The same chair has a fissure in the bentwood near the screw (photographed). The same chair also has a chunk missing from the stretcher (photographed). The leather shows age and wear consistent with decades of use, with visible creasing, surface wear, and areas of variation throughout. The cushions have softened over time and the leather has developed that worn-in, slightly crinkled look Siesta chairs tend to wear well. There are inconsistencies in tone and finish from age and use, along with scattered scuffs and areas of patina throughout.
