Lane Acclaim "Plateau" Coffee Table by Andre Bus, 1960s
Lane Acclaim “Plateau” coffee table designed by Andre Bus for Lane Furniture, circa 1960s. Walnut with the signature dovetailed oak border that made the Acclaim line so recognizable. This one has a lower, almost bench-like profile and a single drawer with Lane’s clever two-way design, allowing it to slide open from either side depending on how the table is placed in a room.
The contrast between the darker walnut field and lighter oak frame gives it that graphic Acclaim look. Tapered legs with black-capped feet keep it light visually, and the rounded edge softens the otherwise clean rectangular form. A practical piece too — the drawer is actually useful for remotes, coasters, magazines, or whatever inevitably ends up living on a coffee table.
Dimensions: 51 7/8”W x 32 7/7”D x 14.25”H
Condition: This piece remains in its original vintage condition (with the exception of the top surface being reconditioned) with minor signs of wear consistent with age and will be sold as is. This table is in used vintage condition. There are scratches, scuffs and dings throughout, particularly on the legs and feet. The drawer slides both ways as it should and works properly. Underneath the table along the corner of the drawer compartment, there is a chip in the veneer (photographed). Please see photos for condition details.
