Part of the sought-after Contempora collection produced by Mt. Airy Furniture for John Stuart, this two-piece cabinet combines open display shelving with concealed storage in a distinctly Scandinavian-inspired form. While the collection is often attributed to Finn Juhl, most sources agree the designs were influenced by the Danish modern movement rather than directly created by Juhl himself.

The case sits within a lightly framed structure with tapered, sculptural corner posts that give the piece an airy appearance despite its generous storage capacity. Three sliding doors conceal adjustable shelving, while a bank of drawers below provides additional organization. The upper bookcase offers two open display levels for books, ceramics, or decorative objects. Warm walnut veneers, recessed pulls, and simple brass drawer knobs reinforce the clean, restrained lines that made the Contempora collection so popular.

A versatile piece that works equally well as a dining room server, living room storage cabinet, or office credenza with hutch, showcasing the blend of American craftsmanship and Danish influence that defined much of the best furniture produced during the mid-century era.

Condition: This piece is shown in its current condition and will be reconditioned after purchase to meet our excellent vintage condition standards while preserving its vintage character. This piece is in well used vintage condition. All doors and drawers slide as they should And this piece of structurally sound. There are scattered scratches, scuffs, dings, worn finish and fading throughout the entire piece. There are multiple watermarks throughout. The brass detailing chose patina from years of use. Along one of the side panels near the rear of the topper, there is a long strip of veneer missing. Please see photos for full condition details.
